If you read the books, you discover that Alyssa is 12 when she first appears in "The Frights of Fiji" and 13 when she's last appeared in "A Curse of Mayhem" (formerly "The Unruly Curse"). But if you read carefully, you discover that both books are set in the year, 2010 (Book 1 in the spring and Book 2 in the fall).
While it may sound strange, the first installment was originally published in 2013. So, the time setting was only 3 years behind.
But a over a decade has passed. Therefore, all the characters in the "Magical Missions" series would be at least 10 - 11 years older today (the early 2020's). That means Alyssa and the other child characters would be young adults. Wow, time flies. I still remember what I was doing in 2010. I was 16 years old and in high school. That means Alyssa would only be a few years younger than me. I was born November 1993 and she was born April 1997.
